Using VR to see Country through a cultural lens: What is Due Diligence?
Presented by Rodney Freeman, Act SNR Aboriginal Community Support Officer for Local Land Services, South East at the Goulburn Wetlands managed by FROGS Landcare. Goulburn Mulwaree Landcare Landscape very much appreciated the welcome to country given by the Pejar Local Aboriginal Land Council.
Participants had the chance to experience cultural learning and gain a better understanding of what Due Diligence is, not just through traditional storytelling and connecting to Country, but through a digital lens using virtual reality.
This unique workshop provided deeper meaning of caring for Country and helped participants to identify cultural artefacts. Participants also received a due diligence checklist circulated at the workshop. The question was asked, “If you are going to work on a site, what are the culturally significant things to consider, following the due diligence checklist”.
